Railpool and Regiorail sign rental agreement

Railpool, one of Europe’s leading electric locomotive rental companies, and Regiorail, the fifth-largest rail freight company in France, have signed a contract for the long-term rental of three Alstom Traxx Universal locomotives with last-mile support.

“We are looking forward to the new partnership with Regiorail and to supporting the company’s internationalization by providing high-performance, modern multi-system locomotives. The new rolling stock will enable Regiorail to serve new traffic while contributing to the economic balance of freight transport. Railpool‘s proven full-service offering ensures maximum availability. With this success, Railpool has become a new player in France,” Frédérique Erlichman, Director of Railpool France, said.

“As we want to expand our offering in Europe, the full-service rental of interoperable electric locomotives with last mile module fits perfectly into our strategy. The bimodal operational capability is also worthwhile for various domestic Regiorail traffic and offers energy efficiency and CO2 emission savings in the interest of our customers’ decarbonization efforts. We chose Railpool because of the company’s technical know-how, ability to supply spare parts directly from its own extensive warehouse and guarantee a high quality of service. This, combined with RAILPOOL’s flexibility in contract design and the company’s European positioning, convinced us to work with Railpool,” Brice Devinoy, CEO of Eurorail/Regiorail, added.

The contract is complemented by an option for four additional locomotives.

Last year an Alstom-Railpool contract has been signed for the delivery of 50 Traxx Universal multisystem locomotives by the French rolling stock manufacturer. The value of the contract signed between Alstom and Railpool could reach EUR 260 million.

Railpool is active in 19 European countries and has a fleet of more than 600 electric and hybrid locomotives and 148 passenger vehicles for which has invested EUR 2.6 billion. The company also owns six workshops and a warehouse with more than 4,000 different spare parts and components
