RATP Dev and JR East signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate for the Philippines NSCR project (North-South Commuter Rail).

The two companies will begin their strategic cooperation combining their expertise in preparation for the upcoming tender for the operation and maintenance of the rail system.

The signing of this agreement continues the long-standing collaboration between the two railway companies, both already established in the Philippines. The goal is to support the urban, economic, and social development of the country’s most densely populated region by providing faster, more reliable, and sustainable transport solutions.

“We are delighted with this partnership, which reflects our shared ambition to transform the transport system in the Philippines. By joining our efforts, we are committed to leveraging the strengths of our two Groups to provide reliable and performant railway services that enhance the quality of life for users,” Henri POTTIER, CEO Asia-Pacific for RATP Dev said.

This trusted partnership between RATP Dev and JR East strengthens an already solid relationship of cooperation and technical expertise exchange for more than ten years. The Philippines NSCR, one of the country’s most ambitious, represents a major opportunity for RATP Dev and JR East to leverage their unique expertise in managing high-capacity networks. This partnership aims to provide a high-quality service, meeting the growing mobility needs in the Greater Manila area.

“We are thrilled that both groups have elevated our partnership and are now beginning to collaborate on the upcoming railway operation and maintenance project in the Philippines, where rolling stock manufactured by J-TREC, JRE’s subsidiary, has already been selected for use. By combining JR East’s accumulated expertise with RATP Dev’s global experience, we hope to make a lasting contribution to the growing urban rail system in the Philippines, enhancing the quality of life for the local community and its people,” Junji KAWASAKI, Department Director, International Affairs Headquarters for JR East said.

Spanning 147 km, the NSCR line extension will significantly improve travel efficiency for residents and commuters between Manila, suburban areas, and Clark Airport, offering a direct and secure rail connection.
