The first metro train has arrived in Warsaw from Škoda Transportation’s Pilsen plant and before entering transport operation, it will undergo the necessary tests.
The Czech manufacturer will soon dispatch the second 119-metre-long train comprising six cars.
The metro train delivery is part of a EUR 311.7 million contract signed in January 2020 for the supply of 30 45 six-car metro trainsets. The contract also includes the supply of spare parts and a simulator for staff training, which will be also ensured by Škoda Transportation. The firm order includes the delivery of 37 six-car metro trains with an option for 8 additional trains.
The new trains have a capacity of 1500 passengers and are able to run at a speed of 90 km/h.
The aluminum-body trains allow full electrodynamic braking in all occupancy modes with a preference of regenerative braking, in which power is transferred back to the power system.
They will be equipped with camera system, external and internal audiovisual information system. The metro trains will be adapted to the passengers with reduced mobility, with special places for wheelchair users and will also include compartments for baby carriages and bicycles.
According to the contract, the entire metro train fleet is expected to be delivered within 53 months.
