78% of Moscow Small Ring completed

SRMRThe construction work on Small Ring at Moscow Railways (SRMR) is 78% completed. The project envisages the construction and reconstruction of the SRMR, the establishment of 31 stops in the city, some of which will be integrated with the underground stations and other modes of public transport, which involves 17 interchange stations on the 11 lines of the Moscow Metro and 10 interchange stations to connect to radial railway lines. The total length of the line will be 54 km.
“The work is being carried out according to a very busy timetable, but while a lot remains to be done, most has already been completed. There is no doubt that the project will soon be launched for the enjoyment of Moscow’s residents and visitors,” Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said.
The first phase of work will be implemented this year and the ring will be integrated into the maximum possible number of underground stations and radial lines.
Work will continue in 2017 and 2018. Infrastructure will be created for changing from one station to another, the construction of the transport hub continued and the surrounding areas further developed.
SRMR is one of the key projects in the development of the Moscow transport hub and one of the largest in Russia in recent years in terms of railway construction.
