20 new metro trains for Line 1 of Lima Metro

L1Peru’s Ministry of Transport, Concesionaria GyM Ferrovías and Lima’s Linea 1 del Metro signed a contract addendum that involves the acquisition of 20 metro trains, 39 coaches and complementary works, a project valuated at USD 410 million.
This extended contract was signed by the Deputy Minister of Transport, Henrry Zaira, the Chairman of Concesionaria GyM Ferrovías, Gonzalo Ferraro, and General Manager of Linea 1, Manuel Wu.
Each train will have 6 coaches, with a total capacity of 48 million passengers per hour and 500 million/day.
According to delivery schedule, the first two trains will arrive at the end of 2017, and the other vehicles will be delivered in 2018.
Currently, Lima’s Linea 1 del Metro accounts 24 trains and is used by 320 million passenger per day.
The vehicles will allow the increase of trains frequency of each transport service.
